Sensor Problem

I was making some adjustments today and I noticed some kind of sensor attached to the passenger side head, in between the 2 exhaust ports closest to the firewall. Problem is that nothing is attached to this sensor and I can't find any loose wires. My question is what is this sensor, I think it is the fan temperature sensor? More importantly, where would a wire lead from this sensor. Thta wire must be somewhere under there, if I knew where it started I could find the damn thing.

i believe it is the fan switch. the wire would go into a loom and run towards your fan.

If it screws into the block itself then it is the knock sensor.
