380 HP from a 305HO
Is there any possible way to do that? This guy came up to me and wanted to trade cars, he said his is an '84 T/A with a 305HO and 380 HP. I did a bit of research and found that the 305 HO in 1984 made 190 HP. So where is he coming up with almost 200 HP. I haven't seen it yet but if it can make that kind of horse power is there anything that would tip me off as to whether or not he'd be making this.

Time slips and dyno sheets are the only 2 things I'd believe.
The likelihood of getting 380 HP out of a 305, in one of these chassis, without being visibly altered, is somewhere between slim and none. Think about it.... that's equivalent in terms of cam, heads, exhaust, etc. to a 435 HP 350.
Sounds to me like he added up all the supposed "gains from all his "mods", whatever they are - 15% for the Tornado, 65 HP from the air filter, and so on - and now thinks he's got that 1.25 HP/CI.

that could be it, but along with stickers, he might have one of them secret chip's for his always has been faster than the other one's. always seems to be one or two out there. quite often hp goes up also with a ratio of beers to cubic inch.

It IS possible, but unless he has a BIG blottle of N2O, then I seriously doubt it.
He should be in the low 12's with that much power.

Claims of exactly double stock HP numbers?
sounds fishy to me
I'd love to see a dyno sheet or a mods list from that car
[I wonder how many runs I could make on a stock 305 with a 200shot of Nitrous before something gives out?]

I'm not even gonna bother to go look at it, theres no way he's got that and even if he does why would he spend that kind of time on a motor and then want to trade it, this wouldn't be a car you'd trade for mine.

did he mention he's making it at like 12,000 rpm also? i dont know, i mean any this is possible, but im sure he would need some crazy stuff on there, nice cam, full exhaust, some amazing heads like AFR's, ect ect. just think of the 305 as a stroker baby motor. was else used the 3.75'' bore? dont remember the size.
