Need some help Supposed l98 heads are swirlports
Well guys I just got my l98 heads off of ebay and they are swirlports. They guy claimed they came off his 87 350 GTA. The guy was awefully slow at answering emails so when he gave a casting number that didnt make sense so he never got back with right number (well he just read the number wrong. you know how it can be hard to make out some of the numbers). But I threw in a bid because i didnt want em to get away for so cheap. I think I screwed myself. So I am in correct that they are NOT swirlports. If so Ill have a nice email to shoot off to this guy. Thanks for all the help guys.

no 350 in an fbody, or GTA for that matter, ever came with sworl port heads. Get the casting #'s for the heads to be sure. The tpi heads arnt that great but theyre definatly better then the sworl port head. Thats the worst head you can get.

If they're swirl-port, they're not GTA heads, no matter what sheet metal they he most recently had them wrapped in.
This is a classic scam. "I can't read the number".....
Don't buy them. They are trash. He is ripping you off.

I know all about swirl ports and what they look like. I looked down the ports as soon as i got em today and though son of b!tch these are swirlports. So I droped an intake valve. and sure enough swirl ports. Well the casting number is 14102093 which sure enough is for swirlports. The number he gave me originally was 14102088. I couldnt find it and i tried thinking of number combinations that would look the same but couldnt find any that matched up. But I looked at that number today and got so pissed at myself i didnt think of that number. I have a set of them from a tbi truck. Well Im f'd I already have em. Im not gonna pay $50+ to ship em back. Well at least I didnt spend to much money on em. I payed 190 shipped and they are a low mileage head. Seats look good and valves/chambers have no carbon build up on em. THough a good cleaing can take care of that. So I guess Ill try to sell to someone. What pisses me off is I though well I shouldnt bid on em with out the right no. but then I thought well I dont wanna let em get away cheap. Im gonna try to get the guy to pay for shipping back to him and then refund me all of my money. Well thanks for the help guys. You confirmed my nightmares.

He misrepresented what he had to sell. If he won't take them back for full refund (you get all your money back, he pays shipping if he wants them back), then go through Square Trade.
A little feedback wouldn't hurt (keep it civil).

I apologize, but seeing as though I personally took the heads off (as well as the stock TPI unit itself base, runners, plenum, and all that I replaced with aftermarket and which I previosly sold on E-bay ) I would have to say they came off the GTA. With as few miles the car had on it, I can't believe the previous owner would have torn the motor down and replaced the heads with different ones. Also, I apologize but I could have swore I write those casting numbers down correctly. Are you sure that 14102188 isn't cast into the head???. I will try to contact the original owner and inquire.
Oh well If anything Im sure I can find some tbi guy who could use a set of low mileage heads for cheap.
