what the heck it thins????

can someone tell me what this is its not connected to anything, on the end of it is a loop thing that looks like something that would connect to my cab???

detent cable is your tranny kickdown....when you floor it the throttle arm on your carb pulls the detent cable to down shift into a lower gear(if it hooked up an adjusted properly)

oh $hit thats not good!!!!!! any ideas on how or were to hook it up to?? i got a holly carb as seen in the pic.

try a search in the carb forum and I guarntee you'l find people with holleys and the exact answer to your problem, maybe the tranny forum to,its easy just gotta know how to adjust it

Thats not the detent cable, its the cruise control cable. Its not that important, just that the cruise control won't work without it hooked up. Your holley carb most likely doesn't even have a place to connect it to.

might havta go with ward on this one.. really hard to tell from the pic tho.. just make sure theres a detent cable hooked up to your carb under the throttle linkage

Im sure its the cruise control cable. In the 2nd pic, you can kinda see the end of the cable, its got a long slotted hole, and also a long plastic sleeve covering the cable itself. The detent cable has neither of these.

You can kinda see the end in the one pic slotted & long. Its either a dentent for a TH350 or cruise. What kind of transmission is in the car? If it was a detent for a 700r4 you would know when the car wouldent shift that something got misplaced TH 350 doesent need it but its nice to have things working if thier there ya know.
