haha wow that does suck. cant think of anything other then the headgasket. if it was pouring out that much tho it might even be a seating problem or a crack. whats the history of this engine? u never started it before? was this some kind of swap?

Any water leaking into other cylinders, 5? Id rather be ticked and have a unseated intake gasket then have to pull the head and kill someone!!!!!

Sounds like your intake is on bad. Did you remember the intake gaskets? Did you have the heads milled? Take a look at it and make sure it's seated all the way down on the heads.
BTW- you have to actually start the engine to blow a head gasket... and I've never heard of one that bad.

i'd be talking to my engine builder because it sure sounds like he screwed up big time, and it'd be hard to blow a head gasket if the engine has never fired.

The last time I saw something like that was when my friend home ported his 351W heads for his 302. He didn't know he cut into a water jacket and he went to start it up and it would not stop smoking out the tailpipes. Needless to say he was pissed.
Just wondering if you had your heads worked, or maybe it has a crack somewhere near the water passage? Good luck, hope you figure it out.

heh, well yeah it was the head gasket and... this motor has about 75K on it so no sweat on the building portion, the heads had never been pulled it doesnt look like. i pulled off the head and found where it was leaking and...
Found 2 cracks in the combustion chambers too!! small ones but cracks non the less, these heads are now trash i think.
ah well, on the bright side its a virgin bore 350 4 bolt main block slightly seasoned with 75K miles and its from 85 so the core wont be a sloppy 70's job like my other block with 1/4" of coreshift. i just picked it up as a temporary motor while i was pulling the motor out of my other car to put in the tpi motor... sigh*
thanks for all the replys, i was hoping for an intake seal problem but alas... that would have been too lucky.

heads can be welded, but i doubt if your heads are anything special to make it worth while. little late not but a leak down test should of found your problem before you set the engien in
