Big Gains With New Camshaft Only???

Would just replacing the cam with a good aftermarket one without changing heads or intake components be worthwhile? I'd like to do a complete rebuild (boring, new cam, heads etc.) but its not in the budget for at least a year or two. Any opinions are welcomed.

Bob

It should be a big improvement if you select the right cam for your heads, valve springs, etc. A new cam that is not matched isn't going to help you that much, but if you select the right one, I have heard up people gaining between 30 and 40 horsepower just from a cam swap. You also might want to consider a new timing chain with the cam as well. Hope this helps.
