Roller lifters on a non-roller camshaft?
You would kiss both of them goodbye!!! It would run for a few min. and then destroy itself. Non-roller cams have a slight taper ground on them to make the lifter rotate, the roller lifter is flat so the lifter would only be contacting the cam on a point just on the edge of the cam and would quickly fail.

So then why do they make roller lifters for the 2.8L's and no roller cams?

Crane and Crower cams both make roller lifters for the 2.8 blocks, but they both do not make roller cams for these blocks.
Its stupid.

Probably because the lifters are actually for something else, and just happen to fit the 60° motor too. Things like that happen all the time. So in case you happen across a roller cam for it, you now know where to go for lifters.
