A distributor rebuild might help things... they're not hard to do.

Also, what about making your own ram-air intake? It's been a while since I've seen a CFI motor, but I don't think their intake hoses left the engine compartment.

I'm sure somebody makes a set of underdrive pullies for your car.. some guys like 'em, some say they don't notice a difference.

You could also try a computer chip, or if you want to save the $$, I'd assume you could advance your timing a few degrees. (Which goes along with rebuilding the distributor.)

If you know your rear gear ratio, and it's numerically lower than 3.42, you can go to the junkyards and look under some mid-eighties 2.8 v6 cars. They usually came with a 3.42 axle, an open diff, and drum brakes.

Keep in mind that your '82 car uses non-metric (SAE) brake line fittings. So if you get, say, an axle from an '87, you'll have to unbolt -your- drum brakes from -your- axle, and put the assemblies onto the '87 axle. Either that, or you'd have to hunt down the correct adapter fittings, which ain't fun.

Arrrgghh I used the wrong password, and when I hit back my post went bye bye

Anyways, a good place to start would be the porting of your intake manifold, asuming you have the time, tools, experiance and help. Considering you already have some exhaust mods this should help alot, and should be reletivly cheap if you do it yourself. Another free mod is the removal or modification to the mixture plates below each TB, both of the above mods should increase your midrange and topend, with vitualy no lowend loss. Past this point things start to cost money, such as roller rockers, heads, cam, possibly a 350, ECM, gears, etc. For more information on porting your manifold or modifying the mixture plates visit this website http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/ There are a number of people there who have done these mods and will happily share tips ideas etc. Just search through the forums and FAQ there and you should find any informatin you need to get going, and if not feel free to ask.
