Wanting to practice porting heads
I am REALLY wanting to port my heads for some "free HP". But I dont have any chevy heads to practice on. My buddy has about 8 old ford heads for 289s. Is it about the same if I practice on those? Or will I learn nothing from working on them?
Thanks
Brian

the short side radius is different on each head design
that is the most important aspect of proper flow. Kind of hard to replicate on just any head of a differnt design.

well,, you can get the general idea.. but
practical application is a little different. Best thing to do is find a template that gives you the proper shortside dimension for your head,, and fit it accordingly. You might learn something on the bowl work..
But,, to really get good,,,you just need time holding the grinder and slow steady work... kind of hard to get that without doing a set or two...
