Oil smells like Fuel? This can't be good...
Ok, so we start to pull the tranny back off tonight to send back to florida so the shop can see what they did wrong the first time (damn ebay), but anyways, i decide to check my oil, and it smells like gas. pretty strong....

a ruptured FPR will cause this and is all to common a result. check there first. secondly it could also be a sticking bad injector(s). fix it asap. fuel dilutes oil. that will lead to mechanical problems with your motor. ie fuel washes the cylinder walls and/or ruin the bearings, if enough fuel gets into the oil.

usually the vacuum line coming from the fpr has fuel in it. in my case the line was full of gas
. if you have a FP guage you can use that to see if pressure is being bled off after the engine is primed. more than likely it will be. as for the injectors that's a little harder. the best way but most difficult is the remove the rail, while the injectors are still on the rail, and prime it. leaking injectors are easily identified this way.

The most likely cause is that you drive it only on short trips. You dont let the engine heat up to normal operating temperature before you shut it off basically.
IF that's not the case, then see above.

anyone else heard of that?
anyways, i hope you guys are right and it just an injector or the fpr.
