BLACK SMOKE ?? HELP????!?!!?!?! head gasket
I noticed today that I have black smoke coming from my tailpipes at startup. It only happens after the car has been sitting for awhile. Its a 91 Camaro RS with a 305 TBI. Could this be a head gasket ? Please help!!!!!!!

Exhaust smoke color generalities:
Black = excessive fuel
Blue = oil in the combustion chamber
White = coolant in the combustion chamber.
A bad gasket causing smoke is generally leaking coolant, and makes white smoke. Since you say it is black, I'd suspect you've got a leaking injector. If in fact it is really bluish rather than black, that's valve stem seals gone bad, which is quite common with our cars.

Black Smoke
Its Throttle Body Injected TBI. Could this still be the injectors ? This is a mint conditon camaro. Very rare in the area. If it is the valve seals, how much will this be to fix ? thanks
