Do you hear the pump? it could be leaking and if that is the case I would replace both sides, I seen it happen a few times and ford even say's to do them both, you will fix one and then a weak later the other side will go out.

If it's the ride control with the little air bags in the springs, you might have blown one out.
I remember, when I worked at a tranny shop we had to remember to flip the shutoff swith in the trunk or they pump would pop them (or it would just burn out the pump) whenever we put them up on the lift.
Also, there are little plastic "arms" connected to the sensors, sometimes the bushing wears out and they pop off...
If the pump isn't turning on check the switch...

i believe what your referring to is the self-leveling suspension that came on the town cars and continental, correct? if so first inspect the lines going to the left side of the car. if the right side works its not the motor. it could be a broken or crimped line going to the left side of the car. it could also be the diffuser valve that controls which side gets pressure. also there is a sensor that picks up the horizontal level of the car and thats what activates the motor, it could be that its defective and only sending the right side signal. hope this helps.

p.s. my moms got a 97 town car that we spent about a week trying to fix the same problem. it was a dry rotted line that was bleeding pressure
