I believe there is a tech article about this. I hate to say this because I hate when other people say it but, "Do a search, this has been talked about a lot".

I did it.

If you have everything available to do the swap, you can do it in a day, about 10 hours or so. That is how long it took me to install my setup when I sold it to another member on this site.
We put it on his 86 Camaro.
You can do it for the cost of the TPI setup, fuel pump (external is much easier to install), gaskets, coolant, and some wire.

For the carb to EFI swap alone, it was about $500 for the parts, $100 for the MAF to SD conversion, so $600.
My TPI setup that I bought for $500 had a brand new fuel tank, fuel pump and sender, 87 TPI heads, 87 TPI setup with MAF and all sensors.
I sold the tank for $150, fuel pump and sender for $50, my LG4 heads for $50, MAF for $50.
I then bought a Holley inline fuel pump for $150, some fuel line and clamps, fuel filter, and that was about it.
I ended up spending about $2500 total with the cam swap, MSD parts, suspension parts, gaskets, fluids, SLP intake, headers, 3" stainless steel catback, custom y-yipe, battery relocation kit, 17" WS6 wheels and new tires and some other misc stuff.
A lot of the small parts just nickle and dimed me to death.
This is the car a few days after the swap was complete,

Hey Zepher, Was the FI setup way better then the Carbed setup? You can see what I am running in my sig. and I hate the car cause it's carbed. So is it worth it?

The EFI was a cooler looking setup, but the stock TPI doesn't breath as well as the carb.
I personally would go with a Holley stealthram. You would just need to get the TPI harness, sensors, and throttle body.
