when simple tasks go bad

My friend Jude and I recently replaced my Knock sensor starter and decided I needed my tranny fluid replaced. Easy task? well what should have been an easy job. a couple of hours at the most turned out to be a big PITA. First we started by removing the old starter it has the original exhaust manifolds and Ypipe. we sprayed some WD40 on them the night before to help loosen the bolts I was trying to loosen one of them bolts when I here this "snap" sound Im thinking oh **** well it turns out that it snapped the bolt, small exhaust leak then i go for the second one "snap" Now im thinking ****!!!!!!!! i just broke the other one!!!!!!!looks like ill have to install those new headers of mine real soon. next problem the knock sensor is on the side of the block so it should be easy to get of right? wrong! that 2 piece son of a female dog just kept turning and turning we tried to smash the 2 pieces of the sensor together so we could break them free but it didnt work we finally had to call it a night. The next day we come with a pipe wrench in hand wroked a little to good. Jude had coolant pouring all over him. meanwhile i was laying in 3 QTs of dextron 3 because the fluid started to pour out of both sides of the pan it was real fun. honestly sorry the post is so long anyone else had a bad experience when doing simple tasks??

yes and it costed me $1,200 to have ot fixed i put a cam in my L69Ho 305 and i grounded the power wire going to the starter so i went to replace the starter and i put the wires on the wrong post so it would turn over so i take it to the shop thinking that it fried a relay, fuseable link, ect... found out it was just on the wrong post so they call me and say "Hey mike we got the car to crank and it starts out runs like **** you won't to fix that or do you want me to" i'm like hell it costed me $80 to tow it there i'm not going to tow it back here and then have it not running. so i take a ride to the sho and when i get there hs says " i took the vavle covers off and your vavle train is all messed up... so i lok at the rocker arms and push rods and i'm like your not jokeing.... turns out then i have the timeing chain on the wrong mark (i have a after martket rolling timeing cahin with 3 different marks) so when he started the motor it messed up all the lifters.... so they had to redo all the crap i just got done doing

so i get the bill and its $1,200 and i just crapped on my self right then and there

but now i knwo what i did wrong and it will NEVER happen again... LoL

That swap was a gongshow (as my cousin, who was helping, would say).

Just a combination of stupid things happening really... forgetting to put in the knock sensor, the fan switch, having to chop off the manifold-to-pipe bolts on the exhaust, having to drill new hole(s?) for the starter to bolt up, trying to figure out what wires go were, taking apart the entire clutch linkage to get the engine out, then putting it back on, then taking it off again to get the 350 in, taking a whole day trying to get the computer working, then discover the missing fuse, etc etc... those are only the ones I can remember, LOL.

And this was with me (new to this at the time), my cousin, my uncle who was a heavy duty mechanic for ~20 years, and my dad who's done a similar swap a few times before, lol.... so it wasn't just me and a bunch of hicks trying to get a 350 into a Mustang or something

Air_Adam- I sure hope that my 305 to 350 swap goes a lot better than that.

But last deccember my car would start all of a sudden- so the starter right? I struggled gettin the old starter out in january in a un-heated garage in Minnesota. So I get the new one in and nothing. WTF right? Turns out that a guy that replaced my windshied got in my car and the fuse cover panel wasn't on his big a$$ feet tore a ignition wire. I HATE WHEN OTHER PEOPLE ARE IN MY CAR!! -oh and he stripped the side terminal on my +post
