383 and t-56 question

If I were to use a t-56 tranny with a 383 in an 84 Z28 what kind of flywheel/flexplate would I need, and should I have it externally balanced even if each part is balanced?

you'd use a flywheel with a t56. is your engine internally balanced? you'd want the flywheel balanced the same as your engine. i'd think the machine shop would of wanted the flywheel when they did the balancing.

The T-56 flywheel will only bolt up to engines with a 1-piece rear main seal.
Only 87 and up engines have the 1-piece rear seal, which has the correct bolt pattern for the T56 flywheel.
If you 383 is older than 87 you will need a custom T56 Flywheel. Centerforce makes it and it ain't cheap.
Good luck!
