Service Light with Error 43 and 53

I've bought a 91' rs convertible about 7 weeks ago.

But that car is still in the repair 'cause there's still a problem.
The "SERVICE" light comes up sometimes, than the car has less power. When i restart the car it disappears again.

When i drive in the overdrive mode, the light comes up regularly after about 10-15 minutes.
When i drive in the normal drive mode, the light ussualy only comes up when i drive uphill. And sometimes when i do a kick-down. In the city or on a flat street i can drive for houres without any problems.

So the dealer where i bought it from brought the car to a garage. The connected the car with there laptop or something to find out a code what that light means. It said something like the "go away-closes" (WEGFAHRSPERRE it calls in german, i don't know the english word, maybe you know what i mean.) is broken. But that car hasen't got a "go away-closes" has it?

I'm gonna give him a call to find out the actuall code.
But maybe you guy's have heart about that problem and you could give me a tip.

OK, thank you a lot.

regards from switzerland

Christian

It does have "closed-loop" operation, where feedback from various sensors is used by the computer to make decisions on things how much fuel to feed, and the results are monitored to see what happened.

The first thing you need to do is to retrieve the "trouble codes", which is done with a paper clip or other simple electrical instrument. See https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/faq/thirdgen.shtml all the way at the very bottom of the page.

Thanks for your help. I'm gonna try that. Sounds quite easy.

OK, I've done that diagnostic-stuff.
It told me two different trouble codes.

4 ¦ 3
43. Low voltage at electronic spark timing circuit

5 ¦ 3
53. High voltage at battery OR
High voltage at exhaust gas recirculation valve OR
Voltage reference error OR
Problem at vehicle anti-theft system

What I've changed allready is the alternator but it didn't help.

Does anybody know something about thouse faults?

Thank you a lot

regards, christian
