Not sure if this belongs here or not:

Ok here's the deal. I just picked up my car from the exhaust shop yesterday. Now I took it out for a quick drive home and had no problems. Next thing I know after I run the car for a couple of mins antifreeze starts pouring out from the hose to the over-flow bottle. Turns out that it is cracked

After trying to fix that I go around the block a couple of times. It starts pouring antifreeze out again. This time to add to it though the radiator hose that goes to the water neck blows off and I spew antifreeze all over my new clean engine bay and soak my distributor. Of course the car won't start. I had to push her home.

After I finished drying off the distributor cap and rehooking the wires back up. One of the screws that goes into the coil fell down the carb. Fortunately I got it out though (after about an hour)

Now my questions:

1) Is there a way to fix the crack in the overflow bottle?? I don't have a car to go and grab another one.

2) What would cause the radiator hose that goes to the waterneck to pop off like that??

3) Is there anything else I should be concerned about since the distributor cab got soaked?

4) Siince I had to turn the distibutor the timing should be off. How do I go about resetting the timing? I know I have to turn it but which way and how do I know it's set properly?

Thanx in advance. Any help will be greatly appreciated. This thing has me stumped right now. Not exactly what I was expecting after finally getting the engine together

1) replace the over flow tank

2) excessive preasure, bad t-stat, or restriction

3) not really it'll dry and nothing should of got indside

4) timing light

Since I don't have a car to drive right now is there anything I could use to seal the crack? It's not very big. It's right next to where the hose hooks up to the bottle. Or possible something I can use as temporary thing?

Excessive pressure?? Hmmm. Not sure about the t-stat. It's a brand new 195* t-stat that was installed (g/f grabbed the wrong one)

Any idea what could cause a restriction or excessive pressure? The hoses are new and so is the waterpump (Edelbrock Aluminum high flow). I think you're right about the pressure though. When it was shooting out it was REALLY shooting out

Unfortunately I don't have a timing light. I don't know how he did it but my mechanic used to do it by hand without a timing light by having some put their foot on the break and have the car in drive.

Jesus man, quit sending that "mechanic" business. If I were you I would just empty the overflow bottle and leave the ratiator a bit low (when cold) to get to the junk yard for a new one. Then stop at wal-mart or any parts store and pick up a timing light.

When you try to turn the distributor cap to adjust the timing it acts as though it doesn't want to move. When the car starts it makes a kind of ticking noise.

Did you remove the distributor bolt?

Also if you can see the crack well enough, as a last resort put some epoxy on it to seal it up nice.

It screws into the intake manifold on the passenger side of the distributor. It holds down a fork that holds the distrubutor shaft in place. You can usually twist the distributor cap one way or the other without loosening it, though, enough to advance or retard the timing sufficiently.
