What heads can I get?

I have seen alot of people saying that AFR 190s Trick Flows and vortech are very popular.
But I need to know what I am supposed to look for in order for heads to work on my car. Is there something that I am supposed to see in the description? In the Specs? I really dont have a clue. Or is it just that people have asked and the word spred?
I just want to be able to search the net looking at heads and when I see some that peeks my interest I will know if they will work on my 89 5.7 TPI.
Thanks
Brian

Depends on what other mods you are going to do, or if you just want to bolt something on to run a bit better...

I/e, unless you plan on going into the engine with a cam and adding exhaust and upgrading the intake, theres no reason for a set of large intake runner heads "that will support 600hp".

I wont swap heads unless i can get a cam at the same time. I dont plan on going out and buying heads tomorrow or anything like that. I just always see different heads and I never know if they will work on my car or not.

How much HP do you want? Do you want 400hp with a streetable cam or 300? You could get vortecs and run a decent cam and make ~330hp.

Or get ported AFR's with a huge cam and make ~500

Its up to you. Im gonna go with some sportsman IIs and a decent roller cam and try to make ~380-390 streetable hp

Of course the more power the better, but I am going to have this be a "daily driver" of about 7k-10k miles a year. I was thinking 350-400hp. I can always add on a power adder later.

Pass on the Vortecs, they won't make it through your local smog check.

Best bet is heads that at 50 state legal with carb exempt number, but most likely as long as they have an exhaust crossover, your stock EGR will work correctly...only "give away" to a smog tech would be if you had heads with perimeter bolt valve covers...you might get questioned about them.

Port and polish your current L98 heads. They'll be more than adequate. Follow the link at the end of my sig.
