Do I have a bad fly wheel?

Ok guys, Ive had this car for almost 3 years now. Im about ready to install my 4th Starter!!!!!! I dont know what is causing my car to eat these things up like there candy, I thought it was heat soak so i put a heat shield on the starter but it just went out again on Friday. So could it be that my fly wheel has lost some of its teeth??? Any help would be appreciated. This is really starting to get nerve racking.

Thanks,
Jay

Did you need to shim the starters when you installed them? Any noises when you crank it when the starter actually worked? I seriously doubt you lost teeth off the flywheel.

No I never had to shim anything in the past, for a while it would click when i turned it over, after doing that a couple of times it would start. It did it a couple of times the other day, and then nothing. I just replaced the starter in March with an A/C delco starter. I just dont know why it goes threw so many starters, there has to be something thats causing it. Thanks again for the help.

The last one I purchaced from the GM parts department at our Chevy dealer. It wasnt a rebuilt starter. Im going to get it running at least today, and then take it to have someone look at it. I think I may have an elctrical problem now, after doing some research last night. Thanks again for the help.

Check your battery connections and main grounds. You should have 2 main hot wires one to the alternator and one to the starter. Also 2 main grounds to check from the battery to the block and the strap(braided wire) from the block to the body.
They should be clean and tight a little vasoline or dielectric grease can prevent corrosion.

A weak connection can burn up electric motors and low current to the starter can cause the "click only" issue you mentioned.
