motor running rich would it....
the other day when i was putting my headers back on after puttng on new head gaskets i broke my spark plug on Cly 8 and found out the motor is running rich so i wanted to know if thats why my motor is dieing out in 3rd gear on the strip. i was thinking it was a fuel pressure problem till i found it was running rich but i'm not sure if it would do that or not.... and idea's?

Fuel starvation. The carb is getting drained down by the motor, and the pump and so forth can't keep it filled back up.

Not sure how to fix your problem long term but if you have a serious carbon buildup in your engine you might want to look at gettin it engine vac'd. Any good mechanics shop has the machine to do this and this is basically like fuel injector cleaner except for your whole motor.

If you had a broken plug, pulled that plug, looked at it and deciphered that you were running rich...then my original question to you was entirely valid.
Who would look at a fuel soaked plug, not firing the mixture at all, and decide the engine was running rich?
I'm not trying to be an ***, I'm trying to help.
Did you read the other plugs? (I guess we should know...after all, I did receive an A- in mind reading 101).
Good luck in your problem...ya, you "could have a fuel pressure issue, or you could be running rich".

Ok, let's kiss and I'll make up.
See, always best to be complete as possible when asking for assistance...with the number of posts you have, I'm sure you'd agree.
RB is one of the best on the board, and only looked at the problem, and made a strong point for you to look at.
You see where I'm going? (This isn't just directed at you) The more complete you are in the post, the better diag assistance you'll get.
Based on your first post, there's no way anyone knows that you pulled the head, changed a plug, replaced a fuel filter..etc, etc.
