Car extremely slow after cam swap...

When I had my stock peanut cam, And I would mash the pedal to the floor, my car would spin and spin forever. Well I swapped it with an LT1 cam, and *poof* there goes all power . From a stop, I could slam on the pedal now, and it will just accelerate very slow, no spin, no nothing. I have tried adjusting the carb, but no gain in power. I have advanced and retarded the timing all over the board, and it still didn't help much. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I would suspect that the cam is installed one tooth off, probably retarded.

Did you use an entire timing set, not just a gear from here and one from there and a chain from somewhere else?

Well may'be not forever But what I was trying to say was that the car would spin the wheels very very easily. I am running slightly rich, and there really isn't much power in the upper range or the lower range. There was much more before the cam swap. I followed the haynes manual when it came to the valve lash, 3/4 of a turn after 0 lash, 0 lash being the point you cannot spin the rod between your fingers. May'be too much? And yes, I used one set, which included everything that I swapped out: timing chain, and sprockets. I don't think that I installed it one tooth off, I remember the 2 dots lining up correctly. Thanks
