A / C problem... ???
ok ,,, i turn on my a/c and like something up there under the hood just starts squellling like a bitch.. and makes alotta loud weird noises. ... and if i rev it up it gets louder with the motor and eventually the noise will quit.... but my a/c is still puttin out some damn cold air... . also when i turn on the a/c initially the car goes into a really rough idle ... like the car is about to die... starts chuggin and choking pretty much and the squellin noise is going on also... and as soon as i turn it off cars normall... ... any ideas whats out... or shot or whatever the hells wrong.. so i can get it fixed...
thx for your time...

hey thx alot for the input... i have no idea either it looks like my R12 **** finally took a **** though. . . this is something the professionals will hafta take care of i'm guessin.... thx anyways... peace
If the A/C is still delivering cold air, your refrigeration charge is probably just fine. DO NOT adjust the charge. DO NOT remove the R12 and replace it with R134a unlees you want to be disappointed in A/C performance.
Most likely you have belt slippage from a glazed/worn belt or failing belt trnsioner. You may also have a clutch slippage problem, and would have to clean the external oil and grime from the clutch to solve that.
Open the hood with the engine running and cycle on the A/C. Tou'll almost be able to see if the belt is slipping. Apply some belt dressing (carefully) to see if the belt is slipping and if the noise changes.
DON'T spoil your working A/C system because of a slipping belt or clutch.
