how do i get this fuel line off?
ok, so I wanted to replace my fuel filter. simple enough, right? so i stick a wrench on the big nut, and then another on the smaller nut on the fuel line at the front of the carb. try as i might to turn the smaller one, the bigger one just kept turn and it kinked teh line a little bit. after fooling around with it the line was pretty twisted, so i got frustrated and just decided to go for the gusto and break the line off. I figure, oh well, how expensive could a new line be, its only like 3 feet to the pump. well, unfortunately I cant get that friggin nut out either! does anyone have any ideas? I dont want to cut it or anything, since there's gas in there that would be a bad idea(Tm). So how do i get this friggin thing out? My wrench keeps slipping off and i dont want to round the thing off horribly like i did the other end, at least i could break that one off and still get it out because the bigger nut moved. the end on the fuel pump has no big nut that'll come off.
Penetrating oil might work. Forget about heat (obviously).
At worst, you could cut the line from the pump close to the carb, install a new stub of steel flared line into the carb, and splice in an external fuel filter with hose just to make it look like you had planned it that way. Holleys get away with it.
If you don't have room for a filter or don't want the extra one, just splice it with hose.

If I understand you correctly, you couldn't hold the big nut on the carb tight enough and it turned when you tried to remove the fuel line (little nut) ?
Get a set of metric flare wrenches. They hold the nuts securely and are the proper tool for tubing fittings. If you rounded the nut off at the fuel pump to badly to get the flare wrench on, you may have to use vise-grips.
New fuel pump to carb lines aren't too expensive. I now Inline Tube has them for about $30. Autozone/ Pepz Boys can probably get them too.

cold works about the same as heat, only in reverse. hose it down with a can of r134a. might want to remove fuel fill cap too and wear safety glasses and watch where the r134a goes, don't want it on you.

The cold will contract the fitting the same as heat will expand the fitting. The usual intention of heating or cooling fittings is the break the rust seal. There's also cooling the male end to shrink it inside the female end or heating the reciprocal.
I find that vice grips don't work too well. Monkey wrenches do it much better.

aha, i finally got that bad boy fixed! thanks guys!
although, it did smoke for a while and smell really rich after i first started it. probably cuz it hasnt been run in a while. and the timing needs adjusting. and stuff
