Intake Ques--Base and Runners?
Intake Ques--Base and Runners?
With what I have done so far what kind of gains would I see (1/4 mile) with getting an aftermarket base and some large tube runners?
I would like to do a complete rebuild with heads cam and intake but it all takes $$$ and won't be happening for quite a while.

I am actually still deciding on going miniram or LTR's.
I'd like to stay with long tubes but my goal is mid 12's with the cam and heads.
I think it was Trax who got mid 12's with LTR's. I really liked his setup!

I have a 14.2 right now with stock heads and cam and i am going with the Edelbrock base and AS&M runners. Hoping for 13's. I could probebly get 13's now with some tuning but this should get me in.
Edelbrock claims a 10hp increase with the base.
as&m are good for another 20hp,
so figure maybe .3 increase in the 1/4.

88 Iroc Bob...How did you get that great et with those mods? What grears you got and did you use slicks? What was the temp outside?

I got that time last year with the mods below. This was on street tires and the stock 3.27 gears. It was about 75* outside in Sept.
Here's some more info on that run
1.95 -- 60 ft.
8.90 -- 1/8 et
78.81 - 1/8 mph
13.88 - 1/4 et
101.18 -1/4 mph
Over the winter I ported my plenum, put on a AFPR and had my injectors cleaned but the best I could do was 13.99 @ 100.12 mph on Nitto Drag Radials.
I don't know why I didn't go quicker--needs a tuneup maybe.
I am thinking of 3.70 gears for next year and maybe a new base and runners. Hopefully this will get me back well into the 13's.
I would think if you can get your 60 ft down a bit you'll be knocking on the 13 sec door.

Max, It won't be until well after the new year. I really do want to stay with the LTR setup. Ideally I would do cam and heads at this time too but it needs to be painted this winter too.
I figured if I did the gears and at least the intake it should put me well into the 13's.
There is a guy on the board (Traxion) who did cam/heads/intake(LTR) and some other things and went 12.58. He has since went miniram. I've got all the details on his buildup if you want them .
