i have bolt-on mods... so, why would it be a bad idea?
plus, one of my header bolts broke off into the my old lg4 heads. so i can either spend $500 to get the hole retapped, or i can just buy new heads....

I would not recommend using the L98 heads.
Re-tapping a hole doesn't cost $500.
L98 heads have larger combustion chambers. They will lower your compression. If you use the aluminum ones, the static CR will reamin about the same, but because of aluminum's higher heat conductivity, your performance will suffer about the same amount as it would by lowering the CR with the 64cc iron version.
Get your existing heads fixed, or locate anohter set of them at the boneyard. They're 416 casting. There's millions and millions of them, on everything from these cars to Chevelles and Cutlasses to Caprice and other full-size with 305s.

not just to retap the hole..... its $500 to get the heads off, get the hole tapped, put new gasket down, put head back on, and reattach header.
is it worth it to do that, or should i just get new heads? i have an lg4 mind you... and they are cast iron heads!

If the $500 is for all the work you stated, most of the money is to remove and reinstall the heads - not the retapping.
Without seeing the head (is the broken bolt still in the head?) you may be able to get the broken bolt out without retapping or just retap with the head left on the engine. Heck of a lot cheaper than R&R'ing the head off the engine (if you are not going to do it yourself).

Point here it seems, is if you cannot do the job yourself (R and R the heads)...since you mention money as a condition, factor in the 500 plus the cost of new heads.
Is it worth it?
