How do you bypass the speed limiter on a 91 Z28?

its 305 speed densitiy tpi...
we're going to the track tomorrow and need info because it bounces off the limiter


(btw its not my car)

Unplug the VSS sensor from the back of the transmission? It'll kill the speedo, but the track's timeslip will get you the speed info.

It's trap speed shouldn't be high enough that you need to worry about the limiter, unless it's a 12 second car.

Umm, this is for TBI cars, but I imagine there some what the same. You'll have to do a bit of research though. There is a tech article on this board, about removing the speed limiter for a TBI f-body.

There's nothing else you can do, besides changing the speedo gears in the trans, or getting a new PROM without a speed limiter in it. Your only temporary solution is unplugging the VSS from the trans while at the track.

I don't know. There is differences in the wiring harnesses, but Im not sure exacly what they are.

if he unplugged it before we left for the track would it be bad? would it go into tcc lockuP?

The car would run like crap, because speed density needs to know the speed of the car to operate properly in closed loop operation. So no, it wouldnt lockup the torque converter properly. I would only remove the speedo at the track. The computer doesnt care about speed at WOT.
