please help
Is it possable for a power steering pump to over heat?
Ive been having a problem, during high temps when I turn the wheels I get a squeeking noise or a buzz but not a grinding noise from the pump but during lower temps I have no problems with this. Could this be the bearings in the pump or maybe a belt stretching? Thanks for any info you can give me.

id be willing to bet youd get a lot more responses to your problem if you just posted a normal thread. If youre only interested in vaders opinion pm him.

Napaplm,
Don't take this personally. It's just a general reminder for everyone. Besides, I haven't been on a rant for a while, and watching all this recall election mud slinging in Californica is getting me in the mood...
Addressing a post to a specific person tends to discourage others from participating. The last time I checked, we were about 700 members short of 25,000. Posting something like "Hey, ALLOY, what's this fuse for?" or "Shadow - why is my injector ticking?" almost automatically cuts out 25,000 possible participants. There are a lot of skilled, certified, experienced, trained, analytical, and logical people that frequent the site. A lot of them have a lot more experience than I do, or any one person could possibly have. Narrowing your choices to one or two responses means potentially missing that one piece of information that can actually help you out.
Another thing to consider is that people take vacations, get ill, wander off to other hobbies, or have other things to do in the world, and may not even see a thread for weeks.
And using the boards for personal communication just clogs the archives with information that makes it harder to search, eats database space, and wastes bandwidth. PM can be used just as effectively for those kinds of communications.
I only do what moderators are asked to do. I clean up posts when people just can't resist saying something naughty. I remind people of the rules they agreed to follow. I move posts when they are in the wrong fora or close them when they have no hope of going anywhere technical. And I reply to posts that sit around for a day or two with no responses. When I agreed to be a moderator, Dirk asked that I at least reply in some manner to posts that are disappearing off the page with no responses. I'm sure the intent was to prevent members from feeling discouraged about posting here, so that everyone could particiapte and belong. After all, we are all equals in the digital world. Being inclusive is a goal of the owners of this site, so we try to encourage that.
I frequently make it a point NOT to reply to threads addressed to a specific person, just to reinforce the point. It appears that other members are doing the same thing. I'm sure the replies you have had to this point were just a reminder that we should keep threads open to all, and PM or email when a singular response is desired.
This has all been posted before, but we constantly get newer members that might never have seen the reasons, so it was about time for a refresher. Like I mentioned, don't take it personally. Besides, we have elections approaching, and I needed to warm up the old stump anyway.

We always give you the ****ty jobs eh? Now that that's done...
Napalm, I didn't catch what year car, miles, etc. but if it were me, I'd start by changing out the fluid and checking that belt. See what you get and re-post.
