Gauge Cluster Indicator Lights

In this pic and also in my gauge cluster, you see all those places for the indicators, like check engine, etc. I was wondering what does each of those indicate? There are 8 of them! I cant even think what they would warn you about!

...and a space for a CHOKE lamp on carbed cars, and a VATS or SECURITY lamp on others.

I'm not certain what the last empty space might have been used for:

The INFL REST is for the airbag (inflatable restraint) in the steering wheel, that deploys in certain accident conditions. The choke light was a dummy light for the choke circuit on a carb equipped engine, and the key is for the factory security system (part of the VATS system with the resistor on the ignition key). Though mine just says Security on both my notchbacks.
