Tachometer Connection Question

OK, I have the remote mount coil for my 87 camaro with TPI and HEI. I want to set up a tachometer in the engine compartment while I do my tune-up work, IAC and TPS adjustment, timing etc.

Please can somebody submit a picture or instructions on what wire to connect the tach to? I have a Actron digital voltmeter (model c7676 I think) that can do RPM (I also use it for my TPS) and I have an older (1980's) Sears tach/dwell/voltmeter. The problem is that all of the wires connecting between the coil and distributor are not easy to put a probe on.

Any input even with different tachometers would be appreciated. The manuals say the car's tach is not sensitive enough to use during tuneup.

If you just need to pick up a tach signal, you should be able to get one on the ground terminal of the coil.

Tachometer connection

OK, I don't have a clue as to where that is?

Also, the connections are all sealed, so how do I get a connection on this ground?

Thanks for the reply.
