Gas Smell

Hi yet another problem with my 89 T/A.When im in stop and go traffic with my ac running and when the temp creeps up to about 220 degrees i notice this real bad gas smell. Does anybody know what this could be? Leaking fuel injector?I dont notice the gas smell when im highway driving and it stays cooler any info would be helpful thx
Ps I have a 350 tpi engine.

You wouldn't smell it when its moving probably, since you are driving away from it.

Only thing I can think of is maybe a dead/dying O2 sensor, making the engine run overly rich, which will make a gassy fragrance.

I had the exact same problem with my '89 Formula. Eventually found out it was a leaking fuel line near the TB.

Hey Air Adam, wouldn't a dying O2 sensor throw a code?

An O2 sensor should throw a code if it's running rich, (or lean) unless it isn't working properly.
