Points distributor Q...

The gears on the points are chewed up (where it would meet the cam) Can I just remove that drive gear and put a diff one on? Will the drive gear off my TPI HEI work on it? It's going into a pre 87 350....I think I read that the newer HEI gears on roller cams could not go on non-roller setups....will any drive gear work? I just go to pep boys and ask for a 350 chevy distributor drive gear and it will fit the points?

should be no differance in the distributor gears. the only thing i know of on roller cams and distributor gears is you need a bronze gear on a billet after market roller, not a factory roller. if you aren't sure you can buy replacement gears, or even another distributor.
