Plastic Piece Between Engine/Tranny???

Hey I was coming home today and ran over a small piece of road debris that must have hit the plastic shroud between my engine and transmission. Anyways when I got closer to home and had the windows down I heard something dragging. I got home and checked it out and its all old and brittle and there was one bolt holding it up there.

Anyways, what is this??? I need to know so I can order a replacement part. Is it going to be hard to get???

Thanks...

it should be a tranny dust shield. keeps debri from getting up into the tranny area with the torque convertor. if you want another one i might have one lying around i can sell ya. shoot if you pay shipping i might just give it to ya.

I don't even have one on my car. They really are not going to miss it...

Of course, if you can get one for almost free, might as well take it...

It does just what is says it does, the dust shield keeps dust and dirt off the engine and trans seals, if you drive in dusty-muddy conditions the seal and starter life will be shorter.

I live in S. Fl. I rarely drive in areas that are dusty. And we get a good amount of rain, so anything that might get up there is a washed away.

Everytime I change my oil I peak up there to make sure everything looks okay. If you are in a dusty, muddy, or drive on lots of unpaved roads, you would be better off to spend a few bucks for a dust shield...

my bro taught me that its the CAT-CATCHER cus little kitties like to sleep on there at night when you park the car. then when you start the car the next day, you have kitty soup. so if you have any around, you might want it on. but i guess thats entirely up to if you enjoy the cat being around
