about to go on a long road trip with my camaro, any tips?

im going to be driving my camaro with some of my stuff in in from dallas back to charleston, SC.... basicly half way across the country, roughly 1300 miles...

any ideas on what i should do to prep the car before the trip?

currently shes running ok.. athough the last 2 days she had a slight surge in the idle.... athough im thinking that im just getting paranoid..... ive made the trip several times on my motorcycle and in a few other cars, but never a 3rdgen... they arnt the most, uuhhh, reliable cars at times....

anyhoo, any ideas? i already changed the oil...

Check everything:
Check all of the fluids.
Tire pressure.
Lugnut torque.
Clean the windows inside and out.
Actually I would clean everything--you are going to be spending some time in your car
Pack a few basic tools.
The long trip will probably do it some good.

Check to make sure your seat is set in the most comfortable position it can be (which isnt saying much). Take money, you never know when something's gonna go out. I had to buy a set of spark plug wires on my honeymoon while in Florida, haha. Although I'm sure that won't happen to you, you get my drift.

ok... i must have jinkxed myself..... lol.

just got back from driving to the store... its been pouring rain the last 2 days (and its STILL coming down) but as im driving i hear this "click" from over my shoulder.. hmm.. drive along some more "click-click-click-clickclick" heh...

the next time i hear it i look at the power door lock.... its twitching... i touch the unlock button.. it comes all the way out...... and then both locks slam to the locked position.

every time i unlock them, they lock back automaticly..... and now the unlock button doesnt work.....

i think water got in the door and shorted out the power lock switch... or i have demons in my car

my updated list as i was driving..

bring:
tools
coolent
oil
ATF
MONEY

before i leave:
replace wiper blades- every 3rd wipe the drivers side chatters.. other then that it works perfect.. *shrug*
reverse flush and fill coolent
check all fluids
find out for SURE (once it stops raining) why my door locks were being funky
dont move the seat (its perfect where it is )
Tire pressure.
Lugnut torque.
Clean

am i forgetting somthing?

i make a 750mile trip my iroc and all i do is just make sure that i'm not gonna go over my oil change and anything else. my tires are allways good and i religously maintain the car.
i get about 21mpg doing 70pmph while using cruise control.
i bring
4- spark plug wires
4- spark plugs
jack
full spare
all the tools to replace them
and the stuff like
oil
atf
antifreeze

Be ready for problems. But dont stress over them. I drove my 90RS from Brunswick GA. to Tucson AZ a little over 2000 miles without a hitch. and that was after almost 3 years where I could not take care of it due to some unexpected financial issues. gotta love the army!Relax and enjoy your trip.

made it no problem..

got AMAZING gas miliage. jsut before i left i had put a new EGR valve..

used cruise control the entire way. got a low of 22 mpg and a best one tankful of 33!!!! i couldnt believe it, i had to do the math 4 times.... but i did get it... spent $80 on gas for the entire trip.. and i still had what read as half a tank when i got home.

im soo happy my car made it no probs..... i hit no traffic... i hit no rain, and i had the top down the whole way..... and didnt get sunburn!

excelent trip... i just wish i knew the car wouldnt have any probs.. i would have taken the more senic route... ehh, next time perhaps.
