another start problem --please help

305 tbi - car cranks but does not start. no codes. fuel pump fuse checked out ok, one was bad (connects to positive battery terminal in a black box) but still no start. please let me know what else to check for. would a dirty fuel filter or fuel pump relay cause this prob?

You have a lot of troubleshooting to do. You need a fuel pressure gauge to make sure your pump is pressurizing the system. If that is OK, you need to check if you have spark. Remove a spark plug and hold it to the block while someone cranks to see if you have spark. If you have spark, replace the plug and and shoot some gas or starting fluid into the intake then crank. If it starts momentarily, you have injector trouble. Each of these steps narrows your search.

Before you do anything, check to make sure you have current from the 'key on' ignition line that runs to you're coil.

If you do, then it's somewhere in you're ignition (cap, rotor, module etc..). If you don't, you'll have to scan the wiring back to check for any exposed current.

(Don't forget to give you're fusebox a once over)

This, of course, if the ECM is properly triggering the Electronic Spark Control.

I got the car to start now, but it misfires and then dies w/in 3-4 seconds. new cap , rotor , ignition module , and plugs . checked and rechecked plug wires and all are in correct location. fuel pump fuse is ok. treid to start the car by pouring gas in the tbi unit but starts worse and dies. Im really stumped here!!! what should i try or check next??????? im not getting any codes.

Don't poor anymore fuel in the TBI, especially if you're already getting enough fuel pressure from the pump.

Double check you're ignition work (especially grounds), then double check you're timing.

Also.... did you coat the bottom of the module with some silicone?
