Throttle Deceleration

When out of gear with the clutch engaged and only when pressing the throttle (1989 Firebird, 305 TBI, T5), my car will increase deceleration. Any idea why this is happening?

"Increase deceleration"? Do you mean that is slows down MORE with the engine RPM increased in neutral?

I am thoroughly convinced that all 1989 305 TBI's are possessed by Satan himself.

O.K. That's wierd.

Have you checked the oil level in the transmission lately?

I haven't checked the oil level, but it's on my to do list. I had my clutch replaced around March, and I discovered this oddity a month ago. I hadn't revved the engine with the clutch engaged and the shifter in neutral before then, so I'm not sure if it existed before or not.

I'm not sure if this is related at all, but after driving through some semi-deep water (had no choice...flash flood and had to get home, was slightly above the sidewalk in one area) it's been harder to shift into gears (it was hard randomly before, but now sometimes i have to push hard or push for a while and after a second or two it'll pop into gear). I'm not sure if it's due to the clutch, or the transmission. I really need to check the oil in the transmission but I have a few finals coming up and no time to do it. Any ideas as to what the shifting problem is?
