Can I use a MSD 6A on a LT1 ignition/motor?
I have a MSD 6A laying around, and I would like to install it on my 95' Trans Am. It'll work right???? I think it should because it is still a single coil with dual connectors, like later model thirdgens. I just have to pick up the wiring harness.
I guess I'm just not sure about the OptiSpark. I hear that some types of ignition systems don't match up particularly well with the aftermarket control boxes.
I am not doing this for a gain in power or anything so i don't need to hear " the stock LT1 ignition system is just great for street use..."
I want to do it for some extra gas mileage, cause my wallet is hurtin' at the pump.

Installed it today...
Fits real nice....I think I can actually feel an improvement. For real. I need to get a coil now, stocker has 85k on it.
It's pretty cool having a motor that produces 460 hp cause when you do a "minor" upgrade mod, you can actually feel it.
That's why in all the mags they test parts on nasty motors that almost always produce like 450 hp. Then we think " shoot, i'll try that on my 305!!" and we end up feeling like it was money wasted cause on our 250 hp motor it gave us a good 1.5 hp but in the mag it gave the nasty motor like 5-6 ponies.
I tell you what, this time I swear I can feel those extra ponies.
I filled up the tank today ( $34.00) , I hope this MSD gets me some extra mileage.
