hi guys, the 305 (1979) on my camaro seems to be the less performer of them all, i would like to know what kind id and its power rating (if any)what kind oh heads it has? the numbers are:
heads= 376450
block= K050838 D
back of the block=460778
i'd appreciate any information you guys can provide, my heads are burning oil already and i have to take a decision

I got a 305 2bbl in my 78 Malibu right now. I looked up the specs on it a LONG time ago and what I remember goes something like this:
155 HP (at about 3000), 225 torque (at about 2000). ~ 8:1 compression. Smallest valve 305 heads they ever built (1.72/1.40 valves or thereabouts) with 58cc chambers. Pizza hut-style "deep dish" pistons (to get that crazy low compression). A cam that barely has any lobes on it at all. Low-flow 2" cast iron exhaust manifolds that arc UP above the exhaust ports and burn cheap valve cover gaskets to a crisp on a yearly basis, and a little tiny 2" exhaust system all the way back. A total pig. But they run forever.
