My old man was over tonight as I did some things to my car. One of the things I need to do is replace a leaking valve cover gasket and adjust the rockers. Easy enough job right? Well add in a superram and wire looms and the mess and I think it sucks. My pop said they sell valve covers that have a plate on top you can remove, seperate from valve cover, to loosen/tighten rocker nuts. I thought this was one of the best ideas I ever heard of. Especially for the guys using solid cams. I did a search and came up empty. Anyone ever heard of this style cover, or owned them? Who makes them? I can use either center bolt or perimeter bolt covers.

ive seen valve covers with a clear cover that you can unbolt, and i guess it can be used for that..

what i have always used is a old steel valve cover with the top cut off... keeps the oil where it belongs..

if you used studs instead of bolts for the older style cover, and used a reuseable rubber/steel core gasket, you could do it easier over and over again.

I've seen them before. I'm thinking that Edelbrock or M/T used to make them. Can't say for sure.

Thanks SMasterson. Those look sweet. good price too, I'm going to add that place to my favorites. Pop is alright for a MOPAR guy. Wait until I tell him he was right.

They will work for a hydraulic cam(using that back off till it clicks and then tighten 1/4-1/2 term...never used this method but I think thats how it is). But for a solid cam I don't see how you would be able to get the feeler gauge in between the rocker tip and the valve tip.

Want a close look at them?

I didn't run them long but only because I found some I like better and mine are in a truck and easy to remove.

You have have problems with them being too tall with the SR. Also, I had to reclock the alternator to clear them.

Some of the old Nopars were almost as good as some Chevys - almost. Too bad for them that they don't make anything but marine engines any more. You know - Tie a rope to it and throw it overboard to keep the boat from drifting...

And you don't have to tell him he's right - he already knows.

If your dad has seen this on any of his favorite chat sites, tell him you know it came from the Dark Side:
