heater core always connected
if i unplugged the 1/2"? plug on the water pump, ran one heater core line from there to the heater core, and the other from the heater core to the radiator, would this be bad? right now it isnt hooked up

Yes it will work.
Without the heater control valve, you'll always have coolant flowing through the heater core. It'll be the same as if you had it on high heat all the time. It should be OK without the fan on, depending where you live.

I run mine sort of like that. I run the 3/4'' line to my water pump and the 5/8'' to my intake manifold. In the summer I don't keep the heater hooked up at all. I just plug all the holes.
Its fine. When the heater is off you may notice a slight bit of heat in the pass side but thats it.
If you have AC your gonna have to disconnect the lines before the AC will work.

my old 82 camaro was hooked up like that..
the only prob is when you want to run AC... because the heater core is hot and the air has to go thru it, the chilled AC is heated up, and the heat usually wins....
you could always put a simple open/shut valve to close in the summer or even a Y valve that you could use to manually bypass the coolent back to the return line..... but i havent done it... its just a idea... should work though.

during the summer i would plan on just disconnecting it(like it is now) but the port on the water pump, does it push coolant out, or suck it in? is it ok to go from the water pump to the heater core, then to the radiator? I'm not going to use the intake manifold at all... thanks for the responses
