OEM Roller Lifter Questions
I've heard that you can reuse the stock roller lifters with a performance cam as long as they are not damaged. The one's I have are from my stock engine and have 185,000 miles but I had them Vat cleaned and they look fine. Should I use them?
Is there any difference between my lifters and the ones GM uses in there crate engines. When I was browsing my GM catalog I noticed that the new rollers are a "second design"with a higher spring preload. What does this mean? Are mine the second design? Or are mine similar to p/n 5234890? I am going to be using the LT4 hot cam and I need to know if I should get new lifters. Thanks

I reused the 90 K-mile OEM lifters in my L98 during the rebuild, worked fine with my HOT cam for 3 years, ran 13.2sec @ 102mph and made 287hp/363tq. Replaced unnecessarily during an intake swap, big waste of $$. If they're quiet, and the engine makes steady normal vacuum, and the're not damaged in any way, they're fine.
