Could a bad adj. TV cable cause detonation?
Hello,
I'm fixing a detonation issue in a 2.8 V6 by spark advance changes into the eprom.
The last week the car had audible detonation, pinging and retard due to knock.
This week the detonation went out and retard is 0 º.
But, the only job in the car the last weekend was the TV cable adjustment (it was about 1/3 inch misadjusted).
????????????????????????
Some relationship between detonation & TV cable adj.?
Or it was a dream?
Any one knows?
Thanks in advance,
Denis V.

The only possible thing I could think of, is if the tranny shifted way to early, it could cause pinging, but once the RPMs got sweet, it'd make no difference.
You know, like nailing it in a manual tranny car in high gear, going 30 mph.

An improperly adjusted TV cable will not cause pinging, only change shifts.
8Mike9 makes a good point though, however you'd need to be very boggy to make it ping.

Hmmm, I re-check the test.
The main problem was in the following range:
2.000 - 2.400 RPMs
70 - 85 kpa (MAP)
Tº = 86º C and up (187º F)
Vehicle speed: 20 - 40 Kmh (13 - 25 MPH!)
Acceleration mode.
