Pulling AC

Before i start ripping the ac out do i need to know anything? I want a clean engine compartment and the ac is just in the way. Can i just start unbolting and taking out the compressor? Or is there a certain procedure for getting it out? I have an 83 crossfire z28, and the AC doesnt work so why keep it in?

well, if it's charged, you will want to get it dis-charged at a shop. mine had a hole in it, so I didn't have to do that. If you really want a clean engine bay, get the AC delete box. Only problem is they are hard to find.
