Need TPS help, non-3rd gen

I put a new TPS in my 89 ford escort and now it idles good when it's cold, but when it warms up, it idles about 2000rpms.

Anyone have ideas?

Thanks
Miles

88,

You could have a 1.8L DOHC, a 1.9L, a 2.3L, or a 3.0L V-6. The setting procedures for base idle are diierent on each one (their "better idea"). If you have a 1.8L, you can adjust the base idle with a stop screw like on a carburetor. If you have a 1.9L, you're screwed - there is no adjustment. A 2.3 and 3.0 are similar, but require a scanner.

For any condition, check for vacuum leaks and binding throttle plates/linkages it the idle is too high.

Thanks Vader - I have the 1.9L in there

Escort help from a Camaro board hmmmmm Why not? My 3rd gen does not have a tps so I am not very familar with them, but a TPS is a TPS, just different derivatives.
