Need some help with my annoying problem...it got worse

Those of you that have heard about this ump-teen times before i'm sorry (Vader, and a few others) but its just getting worse. Now i can hear a roaring sound...i heard it before but never paid attention. It sounds like a truck with mudder tires on it, but only audible from inside the car and goes down with rpms...normally around 1500. Plus before my car would bog, etc, etc...Now when i go to take off it acts like it has a rev limiter at every rpm. So branz did the poor mans way to see if the car was getting fuel...was logical..i took the fuel line off, and turnt the key to the on position, the FP primed, and fuel squirted (we had a pickle bucket to catch the fuel). Welp...lets check fuel pressure...was at 22PSI with vacuum line on...(the mechanic was just dumb...i couldn't touch the guage for some reason ) Well, maybe the gear on the dist. was on tight but not spinning well (pin came off...as suggested to me) well, its metal and the pin is still there, heh...Sometimes it's just hard as hell to take off...bogs immediately and since i've had this problem its only died once...I've replaced fuel filter, plug wires, cap, rotor...fuel rail o-rings...injector o-rings, you name it i've changed it thinging that was it, just haven't done the plugs yet (passenger side looks like a b*tch) coil is still the original one, and the module for the dist hasn't been changed...though the module looks fairly new...I used a xmas tree light checker thingy to see if the plug wires has voltage goin through them...and they all seemed to be working...timeing is at 6 BTDC as my sticker on my hood specifies... I just don't understand what could be causeing me so much trouble... Only thing that i can thing of is that my plugs are failing...Is you need a look at the cap, rotor, or dist itself...i can present a picture as they are out of the car...

Branz,

Your fuel pressure is about half of what it should be. (Well, not exactly half.) The pressure should be 37 PSIG +/- 3PSIG with idle vacuum connected at the regulator. With no vacuum, the pressure should be nearer to 44PSIG.

Correct the pressure problem and some of your troubles might go away. Try testing the pressure with the fuel return line from the regulator firmly pinched off.

That was also with the fuel rails o-rings (front passenger side) leaking...so i'll try and check what it is when i find someone with a FP guage...

I got a 3.1 V6 camaro that exhibits these EXACT symtoms. The acts like it has a rev limiter at 4000, 3500 and now if I try to rev it bast 1200 it will bounce back down to 500. LOL Only problem is... the one I have doesnt have a cat convertor! It was suggested to me it was the distributor pick up coil.

oh my lord, blade, that is my exact problem, right there, anytime i hold it while it bogs, it'll goto 500rpms... I gutted the cat thinking that it was the problem...but it wasn't I guess i'll save some money and replace the module and the coil itself...

Bran, I'd check out MSD for a new heavy duty dist. module. If the coil was bad chances
are the eng. wouldn't even run or would break up badly. I think the part runs about $70bucks from PAW. Check the connections to your computer too.

Wait!! Don't just throw parts at the car, test them! Before you spend $70 on a new module, get it tested. Most parts stores can test them for you. And check that fuel pressure because, like Vader said, if it really is at 22psi that will cause a major problem.

You may have found Half of your problem, but like the others mention, that fuel pressure is extremly low, and will cause problems. Get it taken care of before it leaves you stranded.
