Harmonic Balancer Distance From Crank Snout....

Don't flame for this, cuz I did a search three times..... and I KNOW for sure that Vader mentioned it already, because I read his thread a few days ago. But for some reason, I can't find it!!!

Anyway, simple question. Just picked up a Harmonic Balancer (the Summit OEM replacement), and with a right tool, had just pressed back on in minutes....

I know that our cranks have a flange/shoulder on them to mate up the Balancer.... and although I pressed the Balancer in as far as she'll go, I'm still getting an 'echo' when I lightly tap the balancer with a hammer (should be a 'thud').

I put the tool back on, and tried pressing some more....but it won't go anymore, and I don't want to strip the crank snout thread.

From the snout, to the outside of the balancer, I'm reading just under an inch of distance.... does this sound right? I ask this cuz not only am I getting an 'echo', but when I removed the stock balancer, for some reason the hub seemed much more closer to the timing chain cover than Summit's can get (unless Summit's is made thinner)???

Thanks!!
