battery?

is it possible for a low battery to affect the preformance of your car?

quite so, if your combustion process isnt happening completely, or isnt burning as fast as it should, then your power will be lower

The alternator should power the ignition circuits when the car is running, so I don't think a simply partially discharged battery would affect performance. If the battery is damaged in some way, such as by an internal short in one or more of the cells, then it could place an unusual load on the charging system and have a negative impact on performance.

I have found that when i leave the charger on overnight the car runs better for a few days. Also when i left the car for 5 days the battery was dead>

Sounds like it might be a bad battery then, run it over to your local Crappy Tire and they should test it for free.
