Oil Pan Replacement
Ok Ladies and Gents,
I have to replace my oil pan thanks to my cousin taking one of those gas things sticking up at the gas station. You know where they fill up the main station. So after looking around I was wondering if an aluminum pan will fit my car. I asked the guy at the speed shop and the said, "Its a universal pan and should fit fine". Well I dont have his confidence. The box did say it was a 1985+ years pan. And it was a passenger side dip stick. But my question is.... Do I have to consider anything else in this? Will the aluminum one fit? do i have to get the OEM one?
Thanks,
Demo
P.S. I dont want the chrome...IT LEAKS.......or at least my valve covers do.....

You have to measure the sump area. I know most of the universal pans are too big if you have factory exhaust, some aftermarket Y pipes make it worse some make it better.

I ran the summit aluminum pan on my 350...

i'm pretty sure that was it, i did have to use longer bolts due to the thickness but it worked n fit...
I wouldn't recommend one though...

oops i didnt know i posted twice, the first it gave me an error...
yeah if i would have known now what I did before i would have bought an OEM steel 5 quart one like i got now...
the alu... pan shatters if u hit a bump, it cracks and the oil leaks out badly...
A steel one might bend a lil, least would bend in n hit the pump, but none the less...
Plus i see no difference in peformance and if u want to treat your car to something nice, buy an oil cooler for it if u dont have one instead of a alu.. oil pan...
that will be much much better for you. someone can disagree with me all they want but i wouldn't recommend one unless u did heavy heavy street racing but even at that i wouldnt

Thanks Hydric...
I guess thats what I needed to hear. I will just get the OEM. And put the 10 bucks I save on the aluminum pan for the oil cooler. I hadnt even thought of that... Again thanks
