Cranks!!!!!!!!!

ok i'm starting my 350 buildup. I'm starting with a shortblock that i don't have to worry about.
i would like to go with a forged steel crank. What # steel should i be looking into getting, who makes good ones and who makes bad ones. I don't want to spend 4200 on a crank i know it isn't what i want but i also don'tt want to spend over $1500 on a callies.
I'm looking at spending around $500 on a crank. With that said what do you guys suggest? the motor will start out as a 350 w/ sportsman II heads and a cc305 w/ maybe a 100 shot.

I was thinking about a 4340 forged steel crank. It must be able to handle saftly 500hp and handle 7500rpm.

thanks Jonathan AKA WyClef

i'm runnin an eagle 4340 3.75 inch stroke crank, internally balanced, i love it. ran me around $450. Just shop around, Jegs and Summit are around $200 more than you can find them for from other dealers.

You don't need a 4340 crank a 5140 will be fine and be about 40% cheaper.

I just picked up a forged steel crankshaft from my local machine shop (jesse miller machine, nationally recognized), and they took it 10/10, cleaned did all the work a day before I picked it up, and it was a one peice rear main seal, and I got it for $345. That's where i'd start, is the local machine shops (but not uncle paul's shop).
