Remove the back seats??

I've heard this takes about 80 pounds off the weight of the car. I have and '89 GTA and I never have more than 1 other person in the car anyway, so I figure if it's not too much of a hassle (is it?) and shaves some weight off the car I'll remove them. Is it worth it??
Thanks

Hey Ede, how did you get to those torx heads on the sides of the seatbacks? Does it take a special tool?

not even close to 80 lbs

I have the non split rear seat, all together the seat back and bottoms totals out to 27 lbs
add in 5 pounds more for the two seat belts your just around 32 pounds
I also pulled a split rear seat out of another trans am, it weighs about the same id say within about 5 lbs
so no, not 80

The rear seats are probably 25 lbs if that.
The front seats are 55lbs each, at least mine with the power motors, and that is much heavier than the rears.

Agreed, they are very light. I had the back seats out in my 85 for a little while while i was doing a lot of moving (very handy extra room btw) and can attest that they are very light.
If you want to lose a little weight and some cargo space and the 2 seater look, just remove the seatbacks. This way, people could still sit on the pads if need be, and it wouldn't look quite so out of place.

Well then, since the front seats are so much heavier, take THEM out and just use a milk carton. You can find them at any grocery store. Ha ha Just kidding. Even my notchback seats dont weight that much. Maybe 2 pounds more
