unusual spark plug question

I have a 92 gta with L98 motor. Stock heads.. proper plug is acR45ts which is a tapered seat plug.. The plugs that are in it
are ac r5ls which are not tapered seat and (measuring from where the plug would seat into the head) the electrode extends
about 3/8ths of and inch futher into the head therefor being deeper into the combustion chamber... Any thoughts and to how will affect the flame front and power... apparently no danger of hitting the piston as they have been there for about 10,000 miles now.

i would say that they call it the right plug for that reason that it is the right plug. since it hasnt caused any damage i think you should be fine. i dont know all that much about plugs but i would venture to think that the right plug is that for a reason.

Are you saying you have gasketed plugs in your heads? Stock heads?

never tried it but i'd suspect you'd have a compression leak with a gasket if the heads is made for a tapered plug.
